MTS 1978-1983 Jeep CJ5, 1978-1986 Jeep CJ7 large capacity 21-Gal fuel tank

The MTS Plastic 21-Gallon fuel tank is a premium replacement designed specifically for the 1978-1983 Jeep CJ5 and the 1978-1986 Jeep CJ7 models, providing enhanced fuel capacity for off-road enthusiasts and daily drivers alike. This oversized tank, identified as part number 0051, measures approximately 23" x 16" x 15" and is engineered to fit seamlessly with the existing OEM 15-Gallon skid plate and end straps during installation. To ensure optimal performance, an in-line fuel filter is required. The kit includes essential components such as a longer top strap, sending unit, skid plate extensions, a lock ring, and a new gasket, facilitating a comprehensive installation. This product replaces the original part number 8128585, with UPC 810160410256 for easy identification.

*The skid plate extensions are used to lower the skid plate to accomodate the taller fuel tank.

**From 1981-1986, Jeep offered a 20-Gal. OEM "plastic" fuel tank in the CJ's. Our 21-Gal. plastic fuel tank does not directly replace the OEM 20-Gal. plastic fuel tank. A new 15-Gal. OEM style skid plate, end straps, liquid control valve assembly, fuel filler and vent hoses are required to install our 21-Gal. plastic tank when replacing the OEM 20-Gal. plastic fuel tank.
